FirmTape levels in TradingView
A Pine Script v6 indicator that draws the flip, the walls and gamma by strike from a levels string you paste. TradingView cannot fetch data. These are measurements of dealer positioning, not trade signals: the plugin places no orders and raises no alerts.
The download is the script's own text: open it, select all and paste it into the Pine Editor.
What you need
- Any TradingView account that can add an indicator from the Pine Editor.
- A FirmTape account on the LIVE plan, to copy the levels string on /account#integrations. No token goes into TradingView.
The levels
No token goes into TradingView: the levels travel as a string you copy on /account#integrations (LIVE plan).
Install
- Open the script's text below (the download is the script itself) and copy all of it.
- On a TradingView chart open the Pine Editor at the bottom, Open > New blank indicator, and replace everything with the script.
- Save (name it FirmTape Levels), then Add to chart.
The paste routine
- On /account#integrations, under TradingView and thinkorswim, pick up to 8 symbols (ES, NQ, SPX and QQQ by default) and press Copy levels. The string starts
FT1;. - On the chart, open the script's settings (double-click a FirmTape line or the script's name), Inputs > Levels string, select all, paste, OK.
- The script picks the block for the chart by itself (table below). Symbol block in the settings forces one; Auto is the default.
| Chart | Block |
|---|---|
ES1!, MES1!, ESZ2026, any ES or MES future | ES |
NQ1!, MNQ1!, any NQ or MNQ future | NQ |
SPX | SPX |
QQQ, SPY, any other ticker | the block with the same ticker (SPY does not read SPX) |
A pasted string does not move. The table on the chart says when the levels were taken and how old they are, and from the next day on it turns red, "OLDER THAN TODAY". Paste a fresh string when the levels have moved. Saving the chart layout keeps the pasted string; to reuse one paste across charts, save the settings as a default (Defaults > Save as default).
The same string is available from the API for scripts of your own:
GET /api/v1/levels.txt?sym=ES,NQ,SPX,QQQ&g=20 with your token.
Settings
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Levels string | empty | The FT1; string copied on /account#integrations. |
| Symbol block | Auto | Auto picks the block for the chart; type ES, SPX and so on to force one. |
What is drawn
- The volume-book flip, call resistance and put support as full-width lines with labels at the right.
- Optionally the open-interest flip and walls, dashed.
- Optionally gamma by strike as bars at the right edge, green where dealers are long gamma, red where short.
- A table with the symbol, the contract, the time the levels were taken, their age, net gamma, and a red warning when they are older than today.
- Every level is FirmTape's volume book, the one the terminal draws; the open-interest book is the optional set.
- ES and NQ are the SPX and NDX books moved by the day's basis (the running median of the day's basis measurements from put-call parity, rounded to 0.25), exactly as the terminal draws them. MES and MNQ read the same levels as ES and NQ.
- Cadence: SPX and ES are rebuilt every second; NQ and the tickers carry a book rebuilt every five minutes and a price of the second.
- Gamma units are named by the API: millions of USD per index point for SPX and ES, USD per 1% move for NQ and the tickers. Compare bar lengths within one chart, not across charts.
Troubleshooting
| Status says | Meaning and fix |
|---|---|
The string is cut off | The whole string was not copied. A block cut before its end draws nothing; one cut inside the gamma list draws the levels without gamma. Copy it again. |
Levels far from price | The levels are more than 5% away from the chart's price: the wrong symbol block. Set Symbol block. |
Contract month differs | A dated futures chart (ESH2027) is a different month than the levels (ESZ26), so they are off by the calendar spread. |
unknown version FT2: update the script | The string is newer than the script. Download the script again. |
OLDER THAN TODAY | The pasted levels are from an earlier day. Paste a fresh string. |
